Built on two decades of collaboration with his trio, pianist and composer Alexi Tuomarila’s Departing the Wasteland (Edition Records, 2024) expands into a quartet featuring guitarist André Fernandes. Piano, synth and electric guitar shape a vivid sound, moving from intimate melodies to driving rhythms and fiery improvisation.

Two decades of playing together have given Alexi Tuomarila, Mats Eilertsen and Olavi Louhivuori a musical language of their own. Tuomarila’s lyrical, harmonically rich compositions come alive through Eilertsen’s resonant bass and Louhivuori’s restless rhythmic imagination.
